The Daily Wiz Wants You! A Message From The Editor

[Disclaimer- This post is aimed towards Sporting Kansas City writers/bloggers, etc. If you aren't a writer/blogger, you are more than welcome to keep reading, but you may end up beyond bored. Don't say I didn't warn you!]

This season has been such a roller coaster ride in regards to Sporting Kansas City. From worst to first. Still doesn't seem like it's really happening, but here we are, with one game left in the regular season, with our Sporting KC just one win away from taking the Eastern Conference crown.

Beyond crazy.

I've been able to have the privilege of writing for SB Nation, covering Sporting Kansas City for just a little while now, and it's been amazing. Having a platform like SB Nation to publish my thoughts on my favorite team is one of the most exciting things I've ever been able to be a part of.

Writing, whether it's been about Sporting Kansas City, or music, or the few other things that have inspired or motivated me in some way, has always been a huge part of my life. It's the one thing I could see myself doing for a living, and know that I would be completely happy doing it.

How many jobs in life can we say that about?

SB Nation has given me the opportunity to make that dream a possibility. They've given me a giant platform that would have taken me years to achieve, if even at all. They've given me a voice about something I'm passionate about.

My favorite SB Nation blog (besides The Daily Wiz, of course) is Arrowhead Pride. It's the Kansas City Chiefs blog on SB Nation. It's basically the Holy Grail of blogs in my eyes. It's how I first learned about SB Nation a few years ago, and also where I saw just how successful an engaging, up-to-date blog can really be. Check it out if you have a few minutes of free time.

I see that blog, and that's what I want The Daily Wiz to be. And I think to a great extent, this blog could achieve a lot of the success Arrowhead Pride has achieved. I

Why?

Because Sporting Kansas City have some of the most knowledgeable, passionate fans in Major League Soccer. Fans in this city truly love their team. They love talking about their team. It doesn't matter what it's about as long as it's about Sporting KC. Some fans like to talk about hardcore soccer tactics, and some fans like to talk about C.J. Sapong's new haircut. Either way, in my eyes, it's all great. I enjoy talking about both the serious and the lighter side of Sporting KC.

We just had nearly 20,000 fans at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park on Saturday to support the team. The passion is there, and that's why I think a blog like The Daily Wiz can succeed. Because there are so many fans anxious to read and talk about this club.

The one thing that I have realized in my short time at The Daily Wiz is that great content drives the success of any blog. If you're writing great content, and you have a way for lots of people to read that content, then you can be successful. People want to read interesting content about things they enjoy.

I've also learned that part of having great blog is having multiple, talented people that are inspired by the same thing (in this case Sporting KC) being a part of that blog, building that content, and also building the readership.

Which is why I'm currently looking for a few passionate, informed bloggers to join The Daily Wiz team. I realize this blog can be much more successful with more opinions, more ideas, etc.

I'm looking for Sporting KC bloggers that want to have their ideas, and opinions be able to reach a large audience, and who are passionate about those ideas/opinions.

When I say large audience, I'm referring to the fact that according to comScore.com SBNation.com is the fastest growing sports website out there. Collectively, the site gets 100 million views per month. 100 views per month. 12 million unique visitors to SB Nation every month.

Obviously, highly regarded, and established blogs such as Arrowhead Pride are the websites bringing in a lot of these views, but it shows you the potential that The Daily Wiz has, and what it can become with some great content, and passionate bloggers.

It sounds cheesy, I'm sure, but I got a kick out of google searching "Sporting Kansas City" one time and having one of my articles show up as one of the top search results. It's because SB Nation is an extremely credible website, with tons of subscribers. That wouldn't be possible on my blogspot.com page I used to have. Not without probably years of growing it.

On an average day, The Daily Wiz gets around 250 page views. That's a typical day with maybe one blog post. Imagine, with another writer or two writing great content, how that 250 could easily increase drastically.

It's just a great, great tool to get your words, and ideas out there in regards to Sporting Kansas City.

Anyways, I've written way too much about this, but I'm definitely interested, and open to the idea of teaming up on The Daily Wiz with one or two passionate, informed writers/bloggers who would be interested in a great opportunity to enhance your Sporting Kansas City voice.

With that being said, if you're interested in joining The Daily Wiz team, feel free to e-mail me; justinmayhugh@hotmail.com

As always, I appreciate your time.

Justin
