Sporting Kansas City opened up the Disney Pro Soccer Classic with a 0-0 tie against the Houston Dynamo yesterday.

Both teams were made up mostly of likely starters for the 2012 season, including Jimmy Nielsen and Kei Kamara for Sporting. Nielsen made some great, acrobatic saves in both halves, which preserved the first clean sheet of the preseason for Sporting.

A notable absence from this game was Teal Bunbury, who is on national team duty with the U-23 team. Regardless, the 4-3-3 setup provided plenty a scoring chance for Kansas City, but they weren't able to put it in the back of the net.

Sporting seemed to really control the game until Houston subbed in Brad Davis. From there it was an even match with no one able to get an advantage.

In my analytical opinion, Sporting looked decent, but they need to be able to finish the job. I realise that this is just the preseason, but I am über competitive and want to win this tournament.

This puts both Sporting and Houston tied for second place in Pool A with one point, behind Vancouver who earned three points with a 3-0 beating of Montreal.

The Pool B games take place today with Orlando City taking on Toronto FC at 5:00 pm central time, and Swedish club BK Häcken taking on FC Dallas at 7:00 pm.

Next up for Sporting is Montreal at 2:00 pm central time on Sunday afternoon. Houston will go against Vancouver at noon central time.
