USMNT: Klinsmann adds three to roster before last round of qualifying

Chris Wondolowski was one of three players added to the U.S. roster Thursday - Ronald Martinez

Jurgen Klinsmann added Brad Davis, Clarence Goodson and Chris Wondolowski to round out the roster and fill in for the injury to Johnson

U.S. Men's National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann bolstered his roster when he added midfielder Brad Davis, defender Clarence Goodson and forward Chris Wondolowski to the training camp roster Thursday.

The U.S. was already short staffed on defense with only six defenders in camp. Klinsmann's forward corps took a hit when Eddie Johnson suffered a left groin strain during Wednesday's open training session at Sporting Park. Wondolowski scored the lone goal when the Earthquakes beat the Rapids Wednesday and he performed so well during the Gold Cup that he was a logical quick replacement for Johnson.

It is likely that none of the players called up will change the lineup for the match with Jamaica Friday evening since only Brad Davis was able to join the team for the final practice Thursday in Kansas City.

There were some rumors earlier in the week that Davis was being called up prior to the Dynamo's match with Sporting Kansas City. With Vermes missing Matt Besler and Graham Zusi for that match it is likely leaving him wondering why his players had to miss that match but not Davis.

The U.S. closes out World Cup Qualifying in the final round of the Hexagonal with the home match against Jamaica Friday in Kansas City before going on the road against Panama on Oct. 15 in Panama City.
