FC Kansas City selected six players over four round in the 2014 NWSL draft

FC Kansas City selected six players over the four rounds of the 2014 NWSL College Draft. Three midfielders, two forwards and a defender were drafted by the Blues. Four of the players are from the Kansas City area and were well known by the FC Kansas City's coaching staff already.

Kassey Kallman 1st round - 5th overall

Height 5-8

Hometown: Woodbury, MN

Position: Defender

College: Florida State

Kallman helped lead Florida State to three College Cups. She was an All American and a Hermann Trophy Semifinalist. Kallman was a member of the U-20 Women's World Cup team that won the FIFA U-20 World Cup. She should be able to contribute quickly and can add some power on set-pieces.

Morgan Marlborough 2nd round  - 12th overall

Height: 6-0

Hometown: Lee's Summit, MO

Position: Forward

College: Santa Clara/Nebraska

Marlborough is a tall, powerful forward that will give the Blues some more options up top. She has played well with the U.S. U-20 and U-23 teams. Was the Big-12 Offensive player of the year in 2009 and 2010 before transferring to Santa Clara. FC Kansas City coaches are very familiar with Marlborough, she has worked out with the team so they know what they are getting.

Jenna Richmond 2nd round  - 16th overall

Height: 5-9

Hometown: Centreville, VA

Position: Midfielder

College: UCLA

Richmond has been a quality midfielder throughout her career but her stock rose tremendously during UCLA's national championship run. She was also on the U-20 squad that won the World Cup in Japan. Richmond should be capable of contributing quickly.

Frances Silva 3nd round  - 19th overall

Height: 5-4

Hometown: Overland Park, KS

Position: Forward

College: WVU

Silva helped lead West Virginia to their first Big 12 Championship.  Silva was a MAC Hermann Trophy Semi-Finalist and named Big-12 Scholar Athlete in 2013. Silva is quick and creative up top and will again give the Blues a great option up top. Another local player that the Blues' coaching staff knew well.

Mandy Laddish 3nd round  - 20th overall

Height: 5-7

Hometown: Lees Summit, Mo

Position: Midfielder

College: Notre Dame

She started all 25 matches as a freshman while helping the Fighting Irish control the midfield on the way to winning the National Championship in 2010. She was also a member on the U-20 US National Team that won the World Cup in Japan. Another local product for Kansas City.

Maegan Kelly 4th round  - 35th overall

Height: 5-7

Hometown: Kansas City, Mo

Position: Midfielder

College: Marquette

Kelly led Marquette her senior year with 28 points with 10 goals and 8 assists and helped lead her team to winning the Big East Tournament in 2013.  She is the sister of current FC Kansas City defender, Katie Kelly. Another local product for Kansas City.

Draft Grade: A

The Blues may not have stolen the draft like they did last year when the drafted Mewis and Tymrak but they found six players who can all make the roster, all contribute and four of them with local ties as well.
