NWSL 2014 allocation list revealed

The NWSL announces the 2014 National team allocations - Cooper Neill

The 2014 allocation list for the NWSL is being unveiled today but we have the list early

The NWSL is announcing the 2014 national team allocations later today. A source close to the allocation process provided this list prior to the announcement. It appears that there will be 26 U.S., 15 Canadian and 8 Mexican player allocations. If this list is the final allocation, there are some interesting moves by all three federations.

Expansion side Houston only gets one U.S. player (Engen) but will reportedly be able to pick up two more in an expansion draft. This seems to indicate that Kansas City and Seattle would be most likely to lose an allocated U.S. player but the process has not been announced yet. Canadian forward Melissa Tancredi was allocated to the Dash also. Tancredi sat out last season to finish a degree.

Rachel Quon played for Chicago last year but is now allocated by Canada. Quon previously played for the U.S. youth teams but decided to switch to Canada in 2013. She was called in to camp for Canada but has not yet earned a cap. With Quon's allocation, Chicago now has three Canadians.

Desiree Scott and Lauren Sesselmann are both on the list for Kansas City despite reports that neither one is under contract with NWSL or the CSA. Scott just signed with Notts County FC in England.

Mexican keeper Cecilia Santiago is allocated to Kansas City, that would make two national team keepers on the Blues.
