There have been no shortage of supporters of C.J. Sapong in regards to winning the MLS Rookie of the Year award for 2011. You can now add Ives Galarcep of Soccer By Ives to that list.

In his latest column for Fox Soccer, Ives names Sapong his MLS Rookie of the Week for C.J.'s goal in the 74th minute of Sporting KC's 2-0 win over the New York Red Bulls. Ives goes on to say that Sapong is "a clear-cut favorite to win MLS Rookie of the Year," citing C.J.'s five goals and five assists as why Sapong is deserving of the award.

Sapong leads all rookies in assists in 2011.

Houston Dynamo forward Will Bruin also has five goals this season, but only one assist to his credit.

Ives currently ranks Sporting KC the fourth best team in MLS this season, behind the LA Galaxy, Seattle Sounders, and Real Salt Lake.
