We're closing in on halftime of the Portland Timbers/ D.C. United match, and the Timbers are currently up 1-0. Kenny Cooper scored in the 24th minute of play to put the Timbers on top.
As Mike Kuhn from Down The Byline eluded to earlier today, Sporting Kansas City fans are no doubt rooting for a Timbers win, as D.C. United would be eliminated from playoff contention in the Eastern Conference.
If that were to happen, than one could only hope that D.C. United feel as if they have nothing to play for this coming Saturday when Sporting KC heads to RFK Stadium.
Or, I suppose D.C. could go into the match Saturday looking to play the role of spoiler, which is probably the more likely scenario.
Either way, with one half to go, I'm enjoying this Timbers' lead. Let's hope that it lasts.
As great of a season that Dwayne De Rosario has had, I still can't forgive him for his phantom dive against Chivas earlier this month.
