Well, Sporting Kansas City CEO Robb Heineman is at it again on twitter. Earlier today Heineman tweeted that the club would be making an announcment this coming Monday.

Then, on a late night tweet (or early morning I suppose?) Heineman posted the following:

New brand, new stadium, new #skc! That's just silly... but maybe a new player. Relax, not your new DP.

As most of you probably already know, the DP (designated player) Heineman referred to is the Spanish DP that the club has apparently been in talks with for some time.

So it sounds like Sporting will probably be introducing a new player in the very near future. I imagine that might happen on Monday. Or maybe the two tweets (the announcement Monday/ new player) don't correlate at all, and there will be some other announcement on Monday that has nothing to do with a player signing. Either way, it appears this off season will be a fairly exciting one.

One of the things I enjoy most about Robb is that you can always get a sense of just how much enthusiasm he genuinely has for his club. I know that may sound obvious (an owner being enthusiastic about a team he...owns), but if you are a fan of a couple of the other Kansas City franchises (let's say.. I don't know.. the Royals), then you know that ownership aren't always exactly emotionally invested in their teams.

I get the sense from Robb that he is always excited to let the fans in on what's going on with the inner workings of the club, and that sometimes it kills him that he can't share the information as soon as he'd like. Thus, we find ourselves reading cryptic tweets from Sporting's CEO, which I happen to enjoy quite a bit. It definitely makes the off-season a little bit more entertaining.

In regards to who this new player may be, I have no clue, but as far as predictions go, I'll make one- It won't be Guti Hernandez!
