Sporting KC Ticker: Kevin Ellis Signed As Homegrown Player, Teal Bunbury Injury Update & KC On FSC

Kevin Ellis Unveiled As Second Homegrown Player

As The Daily Wiz speculated yesterday, Sporting Kansas City announced today that the team has signed right back Kevin Ellis as the team's second home grown player

Ellis, who will turn 20 in June, played out his college soccer career at Oak Park High School in Kansas City, played two years at Barton Community College in Great Bend, KS where he was named a second team All-American (NJCAA - National Junior College Athletic Association) in 2009 as a freshman for Barton CC, and a first-teamer in 2010 as a sophomore. Ellis was Barton's first ever outfield player to the earn the award in back-to-back seasons. Ellis also helped Barton to a third place finish nationally in 2010.


Teal Bunbury Timetable Changes

The timetable for Teal Bunbury's return has taken a slight turn for the worse. He is now expected to miss 4-6 weeks with the dislocated elbow that he suffered during Tuesday's scrimmage with the Houston DynamoRead how his injury could affect Sporting KC's attack

 

MLS And Fox Soccer Channel Agree To 1-Year Extension

MLS and Fox Soccer Channel have agreed to extend their broadcast agreement for another year. FSC will air 31 MLS regular season games plus 3 MLS Cup Playoff games. This deal gives Sporting KC another 3 nationally televised games.
