Sporting Kansas City Signs Seth Sinovic To New Contract

It's been a crazy few months for Sporting Kansas City left back, Seth Sinovic. After being selected by the Montreal Impact in last November's MLS Expansion Draft, contemplating retirement, and then being traded back to Kansas City a few days later, it's safe to say Sinovic can finally breathe easy.

Today, the club announced that Sinovic has signed a new contract with the club. Sinovic, who hails from Leawood, Kansas, became an integral part of Sporting Kansas City's nucleus after the club signed him as a free agent on May 10th of last season. Soon after catching on with Sporting, Sinovic took over the left back position, helping solidify Kansas City's back line.

Sinovic was drafted in the second round of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by the New England Revolution, where he played in 20 matches his rookie campaign, but he was ultimately waved by the club. He then went on trial with Real Salt Lake in April of 2011, before Sporting Kansas City signed him.

The new contract for Sinovic is just one of a number of new deals I would anticipate Sporting will get done in the near future. Graham Zusi, Matt Besler, and Chance Myers are players I would imagine the club will be looking to lock up as well.

Tod Palmer over at the Kansas City Star, is reporting that Sinovic's deal is for 4 years.
