As Kansas City Star reporter Tod Palmer eluded to yesterday, Sporting Kansas City has signed veteran forward Jacob Peterson. Peterson, who last played for the San Jose Earthquakes in 2011, should provide the team depth out wide in Sporting KC's attack.

2012 will be Peterson's seventh season in Major League Soccer. He was drafted by the Colorado Rapids with the 21st overall pick in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft, where he played for the Rapids until being traded to Toronto FC in 2010.

He appeared in 37 matches with Toronto before being traded to the San Jose Earthquakes in July of 2010.

The addition of Peterson, along with the acquisitions of Bobby Convey and Paulo Nagamura earlier in the off season, continue Kansas City's trend of adding versatile and experienced players to a team that is stocked with young talent.
