Four Sporting Kansas City players were named to the Major League Soccer Best XI for 2012, it was announced Monday by MLS Commissioner Don Garber.

Keeper Jimmy Nielsen, Centerbacks Aurélien Collin and Matt Besler and Midfielder Graham Zusi all received the honor of being part of the MLS' best XI.

The next closest teams were San Jose with two, Chris Wondolowski and Victor Bernárdez, and Los Angeles with Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane.

Rounding out the list were Thierry Henry from New York Red Bulls, Chris Pontius from DC United, and Osvaldo Alonso from Seattle Sounders FC.

For all four Sporting Kansas City players, this was their first Best XI selection. It appears that the Best XI selection may also lock up the Goalkeeper of the Year award for Nielsen, who could join Defender of the Year Matt Besler in individual awards for the 2012 season.

There were a few other announcements from Commissioner Garber in the press conference that announced the best eleven. Garber also talked about expansion, and that a second New York team is the most likely and may be ready to play in 2016. However he also mentioned the possibility of a Florida team.

Garber also announced that there would be new, innovative changes to the schedule in 2013, which will start on March 2nd.
