Today it was announced that second round draft pick Cyprian Hedrick has signed for Sporing Kansas City. While the terms of the contract were not released I assume the contract could last anywhere between 3 and 5 years. Hedrick will wear the number 24 for Sporting KC and will most likely fill in as the team's 4th choice center back behind Collin, Besler, and Olum.
The Daily Wiz caught up with the Cameroonian born Coastal Carolina product last month. You can read that Q&A here.
The 5th center back spot is currently held by Daneil Cyrus. But as I have continued to reiterate I don't believe we will see him back here this season. The Trinidad and Tobago U23 international has yet to show up to any of Sporting KC's preseason but played a part in his motherland country's 3-1 whipping of Guyana on Thursday.
Last season of course we had 5 center backs and I don't think it would be a stretch to say that Sporting KC will have that same amount going into the 2012 campaign. The only question is if it will be another one of Sporting KC's draft picks in the way of Stefan Antonijevic or if we will keep Cyrus.
