Two Sporting Kansas City players, Matt Besler and Roger Espinoza, made news off the pitch recently when Matt was awarded the Humanitarian of the Month for MLS W.O.R.K.S while Roger was named a Big Brothers Big Sisters spokesperson.

Matt received the humanitarian award following his lengthy work with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Matt will have a "Besler Gives Back" package for Sporting KC's game against Montreal Impact on May 5th wherein $2 dollars of the $20 dollar ticket will go to his campaign.

The other Sporting KC player who made headlines in the community today was Roger Espinoza, who is now a spokesman for Big Brothers Big Sisters of KC along with Kansas City Royals' first baseman Eric Hosmer and the Kansas City Chiefs' Eric Berry. Roger had been with the BBBS for a year serving as a mentor to a "Little" but felt he wanted to do more for the organization.
