The injuries continue to pile on as it was announced today that Sporting Kansas City defender Matt Besler will be out for 1-3 weeks with Appendicitis.
Besler will have to have surgery to have his Appendix removed, and then the recovery time will be determined by how well he is recovering from the surgery.
A fast recovery time is possible. A notable example in a different sport was Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Matt Cassel, who started only 11 days after his surgery, and had a decent game. So a fast recovery time for Besler is very possible, and may be almost necessary with the stretch coming up starting June 20th, where Sporting will play 4 games in only 10 days.
At the latest according to approximated time, Besler should be back by June 29th, just in time for the fourth game of the four games in ten days stretch against Chicago.
For the game against Toronto on June 16th, I expect Julio Cesar to get the starting nod with Olum maybe getting some consideration. After his performance against Orlando City, I really do not see Konrad Warzycha getting much time.
Besler now joins Cyprian Hedrick, Luke Sassano and Kevin Ellis, among others, on the growing list of injured Sporting KC players. This is, by far however, the most impactful on the Sporting KC starting XI.
