Last Friday, Sporting Kansas City signed a new defender, Neven Markovic. Over the weekend, I had the chance to ask him some questions about his new career here in Kansas City. Neven was very gracious about the entire thing and had plenty of great answers.

Q: What do you think of Kansas City so far?

A: l am very trilled with everything in KC, town, people, l saw l lot of monuments, and I especially like the monument in the down town which was built for the people who died in World War I. I also have been in Aquarium. It is nice but l am little old for that :).

Q: What do you think will be the most different thing from playing in America versus playing in Europe?

A: There is not too much different between Europa football and American soccer, but l will say that l was amazed with the crowd and atmosphere on the stadium. I will say that just a few of European football clubs can commend with the fans like this.

Q: What do you think is the biggest skill you will bring to Sporting KC?

A: I am hard worker on the field,l don't speak to much off the field and l just can say that l have big respect to all from my team and l hope l will not disappoint them ever.

Q: What is your impression of the Sporting KC club as a whole?

A: The club SKC is one of the most organized clubs in the world. Everybody lives and does their own job for the goodness of the team. So this is enough for anybody who want to know something about our club!

Q: When did you know as a youth that you wanted to play soccer for a living?

A: As l was a kid since 5, 6 years old my favorite player was Sinisa Mihajlovic. He was playing in Inter Milan for many years and for Serbia national team,l just looking at him and that was the moment when l decides to be football player.Because on the field he was leader, strong character, uncompromising fighter and in the same time my IDOL.My father is a military person and l am raised as a solder.

Q: Do you find it weird that Americans call it soccer when the rest of the world calls it football?

A: Between words football and soccer there is no difference for me, because l learned in school from the books which was written in the USA or in UK so l knew for these differences for a long time.

Q: What do you want to accomplish as a member of Sporting KC?

A: I come here to build my career, I want to leave a large footprint in this club after my football career. I am very happy here and l will not have anything to say if l stay here for a long time :)

Q: Do you have a message for the fans?

A: My message to our fans : I came here from a great distance from home and I've come to enjoy life but I have come to play football and to fight for this club, I will do my best, I hope you will be satisfied with my performances, but if you do not, your criticism i will accept and work to rectify my mistakes.
