Extremely disappointing news coming from Sporting Kansas City today, as the club announced that forward Teal Bunbury will miss the rest of the 2012 MLS campaign due to a torn ACL, and damaged LCL in his left knee.

Bunbury suffered the injury in the 4th minute of last night's 1-1 draw against the New York Red Bulls as he set up Kei Kamara for the opening goal.

Obviously, this is a huge loss for a team vying for home field advantage in the playoffs, and perhaps even the Supporters' Shield.

Bunbury had been playing extremely well as of late, having scored two goals and an assist over the team's last four regular season matches. But even more than just the statistics, Bunbury had been giving Kansas City a true goal-scoring threat at the center forward position, something that had been lacking greatly over large parts of this season.

With CJ Sapong still not at 100% from his injury, and with a player such as Soony Saad perhaps not quite ready to feature in Peter Vermes' system, today's Bunbury news is extremely worrisome.
