Today Sporting Kansas City announced that the world cup qualifying game scheduled between the USMNT and Guatemala on the 16th of October at LIVESTRONG had been sold out. The early sell-out should come as no surprise seeing as previous USA games(both for the women and men teams) have fared extremely well in Kansas City. Causing some fans - both in KC and across the country - to call for LSP to be named as the official home stadium for the USMNT.
Unlike the other matches the game on the 16th carries an additional weight to it in that it will be between the two leaders atop Group A of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying competition. The US has struggled thus far into the WCQ campaign, a draw to Guatemala and a loss to Jamaica highlighting those early struggles, and are not-so-coincidentally even with Guatemala and Jamaica on seven points. With just one game in the third round left the US will have to earn a positive result in Kansas City to pass through to the next stages.
