Soony Saad injured, leaves preseason game in an ambulance

Sporting KC forward Soony Saad left Friday night's preseason game in an ambulance after a lengthy spell on the ground, injured.

USA TODAY Sports

Sporting Kansas City forward Soony Saad went down sometime around the 60th minute of Friday night's preseason friendly against Portland Timbers and remained there for roughly 20 minutes before being stretchered off the field and driven away in an ambulance.

The play which caused Saad to go down didn't seem to have much in it, but often times it's not a case of how hard, but just how the contact is made. Saad looked to take a knee to the lower back from Timbers defender Futty Danso. No foul was called on the play.

Saad, in his third year with Sporting KC, entered the game in the 30th minute when he came in to replace Designated Player, forward Claudio Bieler, following the Argentine's preseason debut.

The team tweeted shortly after Saad was driven away that he was being treated for a bruised tailbone. Suffice it to say everyone's thoughts are with Soony Saad tonight.
