One day after it was announced that Graham Zusi and Matt Besler were called up for United States National Team duty, the foreigners got their turn.
Kei Kamara was called up for Sierra Leone as they try and gain some vital points in the African region. Soony Saad received his first ever senior team callup for the Lebanese National Team for their international friendly with Oman.
This brings Sporting KC's total of national team callups to four in preparation of the FIFA international dates coming up in the next couple of weeks.
Sierra Leone has two matches coming up in the next month. They take on group leader Tunisia on June 8th and then Cape Verde one week later, so Sporting KC will be missing Kei Kamara for that time, but fortunately they do not have a match scheduled for then. Kamara is scheduled to be gone from June 2nd through the 17th.
Soony Saad will not be participating in a qualifier, but in a friendly. He will be gone from May 25th though the 31st in preparation of the Lebanon friendly with Oman. This means he will miss the US Open Cup third round match on May 28th.
This schedule works out fairly favorably for Sporting KC. Kei Kamara won't miss any league matches and Soony Saad will only miss one US Open Cup match. In addition, Graham Zusi and Matt Besler will only miss one league match, although it is an important one in Montreal.
