Six FC Kansas City players have been called up to play in the June 2nd match between the U.S. and Canadian Women's National Teams in Toronto. On Tuesday, U.S. head coach Tom Sermanni named the 21-player roster that will travel to Canada including FC Kansas City co-captains Lauren Cheney and Becky Sauerbrunn as well as goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart and midfielder Kristie Mewis. Wednesday, Canada's head coach John Herdman announced a 19-player roster that included defender Lauren Sesselmann and midfielder Desiree Scott.

The match is the first friendly for the two teams during the inaugural season of the NWSL and is part of U.S. Soccer's Centennial Celebration weekend, which also includes the U.S. Men's National Team facing Germany at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., on June 2.

"It's always an important match when you play a neighbor, and with the strong contingent of Canadian players in the new league and how close the competition has become between the two countries over the past few years, there's an intensity about this game far greater than a typical international friendly," said Sermanni via press release. "I know our players are really looking forward to the match and to the crowd, but also to getting back together as a national team and continuing to evolve in a positive direction."

FC Kansas City's four players is the most from any one club on the U.S. roster. None of the Blues' players are expected to miss a league match, FC Kansas City hosts Sky Blue on May 25th and does not have another match until June 6th at Portland.
