Dwyer and other loanees unable to play against Sporting

The question on everybody's minds when it became apparent that Sporting Kansas City and Orlando City would meet in the fourth round of the US Open Cup would be whether the four players Sporting loaned to the Lions would be able to play.

It was announced today that the four players, Dom Dwyer, Jon Kempin, Christian Duke and Yann Songo'o, would not be able to play for Orlando City.

Orlando City will lose its leading goal-scorer in Dom Dwyer who has scored three goals in two Open Cup matches and 13 goals overall. They will also lose Jon Kempin who has been very solid in goal for Orlando this season. They only have one other keeper, Miguel Gallardo. Gallardo played for Orlando in the third round match against Colorado and only let in one goal.

Yann Songo'o became cap-tied to Orlando City in the third round when he started against Colorado and played a good game at defender. Christian Duke is the only Sporting Kansas City loanee who has not yet played for Orlando in the US Open Cup.

This move certainly favors Sporting Kansas City as it takes away several key players in Orlando's cup run thus far. Last year Sporting Kansas City and Orlando City met in the third round where Sporting won 3-2 off of a brace from Soony Saad, who will be back from international duty for the June 12th matchup.
