Sporting Kansas has five players listed on the preliminary rosters for the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Graham Zusi, Matt Besler and Benny Feilhaber were selected by the U.S. Men's National Team and Hatiti chose Peterson Joseph and Mechack Jerome.
Teams are expected to name their final roster of 23 players by June 27th. A total of twelve teams are in the tournament that will take place from July 7th thru the 28th. United States, Mexico, Canada, Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, Martinique, Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, Belize and Panama will all vie to win a spot in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.
Former Kansas City players are well represented as well. Eddie Johnson (Seattle Sounders) and Herculez Gomez (Santos Laguna) were also named to the U.S. roster. Daneil Cyrus (Connection) was listed on the Trinidad and Tobago roster while former Sporting KC DP Omar Bravo (Atlas) is on the Mexico roster.
Former Sporting midfielder Roger Espinoza (Wigan) was not listed on the Honduran roster.
U.S. Head Coach Jürgen Klinsmann has stated in the last few months that he may build two complete different rosters for the Gold Cup and World Cup qualifying so the possibility that many of the fringe players or players trying to get back to the National Team may get a chance.
SKC's Benny Feilhaber is one of those players. Feilhaber has been hot and cold when in the lineup but has been struggling for playing time lately.
Should Feilhaber be called up?
Should any other Sporting KC players get a look with the National Team?
