FC Kansas City adds Canadian Tiffany Cameron

FC Kansas City is close to signing Canadian forward Tiffany Cameron if they have not already. She arrived in Kansas City last night and was scheduled to go through the normal physicals and if she passed, the Blues planned on signing her to the team.

Cameron has made six appearances with the Canadian National team including the June 2^nd match against the U.S. in Toronto and has also played with the Canadian U-17's.

FC Kansas City head coach Vlatko Andonovski was happy to add a player of Cameron's potential and sees that she will compete for a spot and push his current forwards. "She will increase the competition up top, add a little more depth and will allow us to play a couple different formations. She is young, has a lot of potential and was a proven goal scorer in college, too good of an opportunity to pass up.

Cameron was a two-time first team All-Big Ten selection and was Ohio State's all-time leading goal scorer with 40 and total points scored with 96 career points. She led the Buckeyes with 21 goals in 2012, shattering the previous school record of 13. Cameron's nine game-winning goals were the most in the country.

It appears that Cameron was available because she was caught up in the numbers game in Seattle. The Reign needed to clear roster spots and an international slot as they brought in Megan Rapinoe, Stephanie Cox and international player Kennya Cordner.

Each NWSL team is allowed two international slots on the roster in addition to any of the league allocated players. Cameron signed as a free agent out of college so she counts as an international.

It is expected that Cameron will not be available for Wednesday's match at Sky Blue but should be on the roster in time for Sunday when the Blues host the Portland Thorns.
