Dom Dwyer recalled from Orlando City

Sporting Kansas City has recalled the goal-scoring forward from Orlando City and will be available for Saturday's match.

USA TODAY Sports

After becoming one of the best scorers in the USL-Pro league, Dom Dwyer has finally been called back home to Sporting Kansas City.

Dwyer was one of the four Sporting KC players sent to Orlando City as part of a loan deal between the two clubs. Dwyer became a hit scoring 15 goals in 13 league appearances and 18 in all competitions for the Lions. He was a vital part in Orlando's run in the US Open Cup, scoring multiple goals in the second and third round before being benched for the fourth round match against Sporting Kansas City due to a club agreement.

Orlando would end up winning that match against Sporting KC but fell to Chicago 5-1 last night in the quarterfinals.

Dwyer will be available for Sporting KC's match with the Columbus Crew this Saturday and there is no word yet on whether Sporting KC will send down another player to join Orlando City. They are not bound to send down a fourth player but it would not surprise me to see Soony Saad or someone else sent down just to get some more playing time instead of sitting on the bench.

Dwyer will return to training today with Sporting KC and will be eligible for selection for the rest of the season.
