FC Kansas City completed the season sweep of Seattle Reign FC as they knocked off the Seattle side 1-0 at Starfire Stadium.

A rare miscue by US starting keeper Hope Solo gave FC Kansas City the advantage later in the match but the Blues were threatening early. They kept the ball in the attacking half for most of the first 45 minutes and got some good chances on goal.

It took until the second half, however, until FC Kansas City was able to break through the Seattle defense. Lauren Cheney passed a ball to Erika Tymrak in the box but she had a difficult angle coming in on the left side of the net. Yet she took her shot and it bounced off the hand of Hope Solo, off the post and finally over the line for the goal. It was originally Tymrak's second goal in as many games but the score was later revised to an own goal by Hope Solo.

The Blues held on for the last half hour of the match to complete the victory over the Reign with a final score of 1-0, beating the Reign for the third time in this inaugural season.

With the victory the Blues jumped over the Boston Breakers in the standings to grab that all important fourth place spot, the last playoff spot. While FC Kansas City still has 14 matches to go getting good standing spots is very important at all points in the season.

The Reign continued their downward spiral as they will stay in last place with only one point, five down to the nearest competition. They will try and get a result next Sunday as they take on the Portland Thorns in Portland.

FC Kansas City concludes their three-match road swing with a match against the Chicago Red Stars Thursday night at Benedictine University before facing the same Chicago team at home on Sunday the 16th.
