After being heavily rumored yesterday, it was confirmed today that CJ Sapong and Kevin Ellis would be sent to Orlando City ahead of tonight's match with Charleston Battery.
Sapong's situation with the club made people think he might've been one of the people loaned out. He hadn't even been in the 18 for Sporting KC since his red card against FC Dallas and had been blocked at both the central forward position and the winger position ever since the signing of Claudio Bieler and the returns of Kei Kamara and Jacob Peterson.
Kevin Ellis comes as a bit of a surprise. Ellis had been getting more playing time recently and looked to be a solid backup at the defender position. This move leaves Sporting with Ike Opara, Josh Gardner and Kyle Miller as backups until Mechack Jerome returns from international duty with Haiti.
This move works well for both Sapong and Ellis. It gives them solid playing time instead of getting intermittent playing time as they were with Sporting KC. This move also works well for Orlando as it gives them a solid defender to replace Songo'o and a goal-scorer in Sapong to replace Dwyer.
