It was a good weekend for soccer in Kansas City. Sporting drubbed Toronto 3-0 and the Blues earned a draw in Chicago. However it wasn't good for all as the Kansas City Shock ended their inaugural season with a playoff defeat on Saturday.

Well look at that, Preki is back coaching in American soccer. He will be the head coach of the new Sacramento USL-Pro team that will begin play next season. After failed careers at Chivas USA and Toronto FC, hopefully the former Wizard can do well with Sacramento.

They announced the winners of the Kevin Gray award with Matt Besler winning the adult player of the year award. Considering who the other finalists were, it's no surprise that Besler won.

CJ Sapong scored his first goal for Orlando City yesterday with a converted penalty kick. Sapong also recorded an assist but the Lions gave up a late equalizer to Dayton to finish the match 2-2.

Looks like the proposed stadium in New York for NYCFC has fallen through as a press release from Mayor Bloomberg indicated that the Sons of Don will be playing at Yankee Stadium. The press release was edited later to take out the Yankee Stadium hint.

There's a nice column in the Dallas Morning News about Lamar Hunt's vision for soccer and how his sons are watching his dream come to fruition.

Moving on to Gold Cup news, the U.S will take on Costa Rica tomorrow night in the least consequential match against their toughest opponent. I wonder if there was any strategic scheduling there.
