MLS SuperDraft 2014: Sporting Kansas City selects Adnan Gabeljic with 38th pick

Sporting Kansas City used their one and only pick on draft day to select St. Louis University forward Adnan Gabeljic.

Nearly three and a half hours after the 2014 MLS SuperDraft started, Sporting Kansas City finally got to make their one and only pick of the day.

It'll probably take that long to get Adnan Gabeljic's name spelled right.

Gabeljic was taken with the 38th overall pick of the draft, the 19th pick of the second round. Sporting Kansas City traded away their first round pick of this draft in the Benny Feilhaber deal last December.

Gabeljic is a forward out of St. Louis University who, surprisingly enough, was not a starter. He had 16 appearances for the Billikens his senior year, starting only four of those matches. In those appearances, however, he scored three goals and recorded an assist. His junior year was when he really broke out, scoring seven goals and recording five assists despite only starting one match out of 21 appearances.

Gebeljic may appeal to Peter Vermes because of his speed despite his size. According to MLSSoccer.com, he can run a 4.4 40 yard dash while weighing in at 200 pounds and a 6'3" height. This guy is a great athlete and has the ability to score, as shown in his senior and junior year stats. A true #9 is great to have on any roster and it looks like Peter Vermes got his man with this pick.

He even made his own highlight video, which is featured below. (The music in the background has some NSFW language)
