The Pre-World Cup January camp for the United States Men's National Team is rife with new faces as five Sporting Kansas City players were called up to participate in the camp.
Graham Zusi, Matt Besler, Benny Feilhaber, Chance Myers and Seth Sinovic have all been called up to the January camp that will see the team travel between the team's training center in Carson, California and Brazil. They will finish up with a friendly against the Korea Republic on February 1st in at StubHub Stadium.
There are also two former Sporting KC members getting the call into camp, Eddie Johnson (DC United) and Michael Harrington (Portland Timbers).
For Besler and Zusi this call is no surprise as both members are likely going to be on the World Cup roster and have a decent chance of starting. For Benny Feilhaber, however, this marks a year of redemption for the midfielder as he fell out of contention with the national team, despite being a productive member at the 2010 World Cup. His call-up to the January camp gives him another chance at the biggest stage.
For Chance Myers and Seth Sinovic, this is their first ever call-up to the National Team. After the staunch defense they have provided over the past couple of years and the uncertainty at the fullback position on the National Team, this camp could be a huge opportunity for the two defenders.
