Sporting KC Transfer News: Dom Dwyer staying in Kansas City

Robb Heinemann announces on Twitter that Dom Dwyer will be in KC for "three more at least."

Gary Rohman-USA TODAY Sports

Saturday evening, Sporting Kansas City CEO Robb Heineman took to Twitter to deliver some good news for Sporting KC fans.

From what it looks like, Sporting Kansas City and Dom Dwyer have agreed to an extension and all it comes down to now is for the two parties to put ink to paper. Sporting picked up the option on Dwyer for the 2015 season on November 26 following a 2014 campaign that saw Dwyer score 22 MLS goals and breaking the franchise single-season goal record in his first full season with the first team.

Heineman did not release any other information other than Dwyer will be in Kansas City for the next few years at least. He did post this tweet the night before the deal was announced, although it isn't exactly news.

We'll post more information as it comes out, including terms of the deal and the official announcement of the extension, barring a snag.
