Nate Bukaty, 810 Sports Radio co-host and Sporting Kansas City season ticket holder, will be the new play-by-play announcer for SKCTV and select radio broadcasts.
Sporting KC CEO Robb Heineman announced the deal in an interview on Between the Lines on 810 am.
"I'm very excited for this opportunity," Bukaty said in a press release. "As a Kansas City native and local soccer fan, I vividly remember attending professional indoor soccer games as a kid. I've witnessed the exponential growth of soccer in this city over the past 20 years and I'm excited to be in the thick of it. It's a dream come true to work for Sporting Kansas City, calling a sport that I love."
Bukaty has co-hosted The Border Patrol on 810 since 2007 and is a self-admitted fan of the club before he became the play-by-play announcer, having season tickets since Sporting Park opened in 2011. He's had some experience with Sporting KC, serving as a sideline reporter during the 2013 playoffs and also covering the team's preseason in 2012 and 2013.
It was also announced that Jake Yadrich will remain on the broadcast, although his position is not known. He was the sideline reporter in 2014 but served as the color commentator in 2012 and 2013. There will also be more additions to the broadcast that have not been announced yet.
