Following the news that centerback Aurelien Collin had been traded to Orlando City, Peter Vermes released some good news on the next centerback on the depth chart in Ike Opara.
Vermes told the media that Opara is fully fit and ahead of schedule in his recovery from an injury that happened back in March. He suffered from a Chondral Defect in his right ankle and underwent surgery in April, ending his season. Now, it appears, that he may be ready for the 2015 season, in which case he is the heir apparent to Aurelien Collin's starting spot next to Matt Besler.
Unless Sporting Kansas City acquire another centerback, Opara should move up to the starting ranks ahead of Erik Palmer-Brown for the start of the season. We asked fans on Twitter whether they would feel comfortable with Opara as the full time starter and the responses were varied.

@BlueTestamentKC Yes, but I am not comfortable with the rotation of CBs. One short (at least)

@BlueTestamentKC If Ike stays healthy, yes. Ike brings superior athleticism w/ less card trouble. He's a good match up with Besler.

@BlueTestamentKC Not even a little. I don't doubt the talent at all, but gambling on Ike staying healthy for a full season is way too risky.
