Sporting Kansas City announced that they have waived Mechack Jerome. The Haitian defender made 16 appearances for Sporting KC. Jerome was signed from Orlando City before the 2013 season.

This is the second defender waived in week; Josh Gardner was released just six days ago. Sporting KC is left with just three natural outside backs in Seth Sinovic, Chance Myers and Kevin Ellis although several players can fill in there if needed.

Both of these moves are to clear spots for signings that have been described as "close" by Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes. Last week Vermes thought one of the signings would be accomplished by the end of the week but later revised it to "probably next week".

There are reports that one of the players SKC is close to bringing in is Brazilian defender Igor Julião from Fluminense FC. He is just 19 years old and Sporting KC saw him up close in preseason during the Disney Pro Classic when they faced the Fluminense U23 team in Florida. The game video can be found here.
