I'd be more impressed with the "sweep" if Montreal was a team that was playing well this year, but it's always nice to be able to win every match of a series against a conference opponent. And road wins are road wins, no matter where it comes from.
It may not have been the prettiest of wins, as the SKC goals came from a Besler long throw set piece and an ugly error that Dwyer brilliantly pounced on (and it was a really good finish, mind you), and sometimes that's all it takes. I thought it was a fairly entertaining match with both teams having some good chances, but SKC looked pretty good. I was a bit concerned there might be a period of reinttegration with Besler and Zusi coming back but largely things seemed to click well.
Also good to see Andy Gruenebaum play decently. Between him and Eric Kronberg and Kempin in the winggs I've got to think we've got one of the best goalkeeper corps in MLS, but I'm also obviously biased.
At any rate, enjoyable match. My only question is why did Benny Feilhaber look so pissed off after Dom Dwyer's second goal? Just exhausted from a pretty fast and physical game? Got clocked off camera and didn't get a call? Thought it was odd...
Here's some pllayer ratings. No real surprise, Dom Dwyer as man of the match. I wonder if Charlton are kicking themselves for not giving him more of a chance...
