Sporting recently released youngster Alex Martinez, but have now filled a supplemental roster spot by picking up 22 year-old midfielder Michael Kafari.
This isn't the signing Robb has been referring to as he is just a rookie that will take time to develop. But Kafari trained with Bolton and Chelsea as a teenager and had a very successful college career at New Mexico. There is a lot to like.
Someone who's watched every college soccer game EVER. ---> RT @travismclark: Sporting KC adds midfielder Michael Kafari. I like that move.

Kafari and the Lobos reached the Sweet 16 three consecutive seasons, one of which they were eliminated by South Florida and none other than... Dom Dwyer.
Vancouver selected him in the 3rd round of this year's MLS SuperDraft and he was playing with the Charleston Battery.
@thomasrye @travismclark @AndyEdMLS Sporting KC projects him in a central MF role.

Being a fan of KC teams... its nice to have Sporting. When they make a move you feel good about it. PV has shown he is great at developing and getting the best out of guys. So although I liked Alex Martinez... I trust this organization.
