The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) announced today the home openers for the 2015 regular season. The season opener for the league will see the Houston Dash hosting the Washington Spirit on Friday, April 10 at BBVA Compass Stadium.
Defending NWSL Champions FC Kansas City open their season at home versus Sky Blue FC in week 1 but the time and location is listed as TBD.
The fact that the time and location is both TBD would lead to the possibility that FC Kansas City will perhaps move venues or at least play some of their matches at Sporting Park or the recently and still expanding Swope Soccer Village. If this is the case, a closer relationship with Sporting KC could only be beneficial with the NWSL squad.
FC Kansas City will also be in action the following weekend on the road at Washington Spirit.
World Cup and playoffs
The NWSL will take a 12-day break during the group stages of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada. The 2015 regular season will then culminate on the weekend of September 5-6 and be followed by the playoffs, including two semifinal matches on the weekend of September 12-13 with the championship match scheduled for the weekend of September 26-27.
