Has Igor Juliao's Time in KC Come to an End?

Brazilian defender Igor Juliao's loan to Sporting Kansas City appears to be complete and he will be returning to Fluminense this season.

Gary Rohman-USA TODAY Sports

Igor Juliao's loan from the Brazilian club Fluminense has come to an end and it appears Sporting were not able to make a deal to keep him longer. There is nothing official from Sporting KC just yet, but Juliao left little room for doubt today after a series of retweets.

The tweets are quotes from young defender speaking about his Brazilian club and a return to MLS in the future.

Twitter translated that to:

Play abroad: "It was an incredible experience. I evolved very professionally and as a human being, too. I hope one day to return to MLS "

This may very well confirm an article from FutNet.com.br a couple weeks ago. A rough Google translate of the first sentence says it all:

"Igor Juliao is back to Fluminense after a season on loan in the United States to Sporting Kansas City.."

Peter Vermes would never have imagined Igor would play almost 2,000 minutes in 23 appearances for Sporting KC this season, but starting RB Chance Myers injured his achilles in May and missed the remainder of the season. At times Juliao appeared in over his head on defense, but his talent and potential was clear. Being so raw and so unfamiliar with the league, the young Brazilian put in a valiant effort was quite serviceable. He had 2 assists and was a part of 5 shut-outs from an always changing Kansas City defense.

So it looks like fans will miss Igor's creativity this season and it is a shame PV can't get more time with him. He did express an interest in returning to MLS one day, so keep an eye on his development and maybe we will see him again.

**UPDATE**

Quote from Igor Juliao:

"I loved knowing that I am remembered in kansas city, hope one day to return. I love KC and love the MLS."
