Sporting Kansas City 2015 schedule released by MLS

The 2015 MLS schedule has been revealed and Sporting KC gets to visit ...

The hunt for the MLS Cup begins anew each year for Sporting Kansas and the hunt for which away games to attend can now be planned by fans. MLS released the schedule for each team and  managers and fans alike can begin their plans.

With the move back to the Western Conference, Sporting Kansas City will get to meet the west coast opposition more often. They will face the LA Galaxy, San Jose Earthquakes and Vancouver Whitecaps twice. Sporting KC will meet the Seattle Sounders, Houston Dynamo, Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, Portland Timbers and Real Salt Lake three times.

Manager Peter Vermes squad is light on games in June and July with only three each month. This may be because of the Gold Cup and Open Cup but would also be a great time to integrate summer transfer window signings or host an international friendly or two.

The end of the season may be tough with seven of the last ten matches on the road culminating with defending MLS Champs LA Galaxy at Sporting Park in what could be a very decisive day for the standings.

While there are two good road trips for the supporters to plan large trips, two Saturday nights in Dallas (March 14) and Colorado (Aug. 29) there seems to be some missed opportunities. Why MLS would not schedule a midweek and weekend game in the northwest or in the New York, Philadelphia areas to allow fans to travel and catch two road matches is baffling.

Notes:

  • Of the 34 games, 4 are on Fridays 2 home/2 away, 18 are on Saturdays 8 home/10 away, 8 Sundays 5 home/3 away and 4 Wednesdays 2 home/2 away.
  • Six games scheduled for 9 PM or later but that could change, two games in the northwest are listed as TBD and schedules are always subject to change.
  • Sporting KC fans will not get to see either expansion team in person. SKC will be at the Lampard-less NYCFC March 28th and Orlando Sunday September 13th.
