Sporting KC will have more consistent depth for 2015 as they re-signed Jacob Peterson, the club announced Wednesday.
The 28-year-old utility man will be entering his tenth season in MLS after being a journeyman for most of his career, although this will be his fourth season with Sporting KC. His contract ran out in December and his new deal does not list the amount of years, per club policy.
"Jacob Peterson is a player we feel fits very well for us on the field and within the culture of our club," Sporting KC manager Peter Vermes said in a press release. "We are thrilled to re-sign him and are looking forward to the start of pre-season later this month."
Peterson is on the cusp of his 200th MLS Regular Season appearance, entering 2015 with 199 games under his belt. He has scored eight goals and six assists in his three years with Sporting KC and is able to play multiple positions, including winger, fullback and sometimes midfield as well.
