Yeah so.... here is this again:
It still just keeps getting better every time I see it. That Connor Hallisey reaction is everything!
Also, let us not forget those who were lost on the play. A moment of silence for Diego Chara...
Obviously, it is up for MLS GOTW and has to be a top contender for Goal of the Year.
Tim Melia and Matt Besler both made the MLS Team of the Week for their valiant efforts in the tough road win.
MLS also just announced that Melia was named the overall Player of the Week. Tim came away with 6 saves and 3 punches in the match. His 31 punches on the season lead all MLS players. I'm not convinced that is a good thing, but I digress.
SKC have jumped back up in the Power Rankings after the great week. The boys are now at number 4. Red Bulls lead the way followed by FC Dallas and the Galaxy.
The latest standings are right here. 4th place in the West, but just three points behind the leading LA Galaxy with a chance to take those points from them at Sporting Park the final day of the season. As it stands right now, Sporting KC would be facing off against the Seattle Sounders in the knockout round. Needless to say, these final three matches (and nine potential points on the table) are HUGE.
ESPN loves them a good headline. Once again, Samir Nasri expresses his desire to play in MLS. The only problem with that, is the guy just signed a 5 year deal with Manchester City only last year. Alright Samir, we'll see if you are good enough in five years.... heh.
World Soccer Talk put together an interesting ranking of all professional soccer teams in the US. All teams were rated on a scale of 1-10 in the categories of Players, Coaching, Marketing, Front Office, and Intangibles. Out of 50 points SKC was given 49 and ranked as the number one team in America. Minnesota United came in as highest lower division team at number ten. The Chicago Fire and the Colorado Rapids were the lowest MLS teams at 27 and 28. Keep in mind however, these are rankings of only one guy.
Good news for the Red, White and Blue as Giovani dos Santos will miss the USA v Mexico match on Saturday. MLS needs to sign more Mexican stars to get beat up in the physical play here AMIRITE?
Landon Donovan is calling for Jurgen Klinsmann to be fired if the USA does not win this game.
"Around the world, if a player plays poorly and a player has a bad string of results they get dropped from the team," he told ESPN FC. "Jurgen said many times he wants our players to feel pressure."
"Well, the same holds true for the coach and so we had a very poor summer with bad results in the Gold Cup. The last game against Brazil was probably the worst game I've seen them play under Jurgen. The reality is that now, anywhere else in the world, if this coach had those results, and they lose this game against Mexico, they'd be fired."
"I think if Jurgen wants to hold all the players to that standard, then he has to be held to that standard too."
ICYMI, here is the video from the celebration at Sporting Park after the Open Cup Final.
And finally... Heart of America Golf has a FootGolf course that is just way too much fun. And they have a BOGO deal for Cauldron members until the end of the year.
Don't forget @KCCauldron members! 2 for 1 deal! Come out and take advantage on this beautiful day! https://t.co/IIvFv7dnz5
