Two Comets players were among the 14 players called up to the U.S. Futsal National Team by head coach Keith Tozer. They will represent the USA at the International Futsal Challenge being held Nov. 6-8 in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Both defender Brian Harris and midfielder John Sosa have appeared previously with the U.S. Futsal National Team.
"This upcoming trip to Costa Rica is extremely important towards our preparation for CONCACAF qualifying in May," said Tozer via press release. "The incredible growth of futsal in the U.S. over just the last 10 years has helped out tremendously to identify new players for our player pool. Not only are we identifying more players but this new generation of player has been playing futsal beginning at a much earlier age."
Missing the home opener
The U.S. will play Venezuela on Nov. 6, followed by Panama on Nov. 7 and Costa Rica on Nov. 8. They will miss the Comets home opener on the 6th versus Cedar Rapids but would not have been able to play due to suspensions.
Sosa has a one game suspension and Harris is suspended for four games from their playoff last season although the Comets are appealing Harris's suspension in hopes of getting it reduced.
