Sporting KC, Swope Park Rangers learn Desert Diamond Cup opponents

Sporting Kansas City and Swope Park Rangers learned their Desert Diamond Cup opponents for the preseason tournament in February, Sporting KC announced Wednesday.

The Rangers will open up the competition against the Colorado Rapids at 5:30 on Feb. 17, with Sporting KC playing half an hour later against Columbus Crew SC.

On Feb. 20, SPR play Arizona United with Sporting KC playing later in the evening against the New England Revolution. The group stage closes on the 20th with SPR playing the Crew and Sporting KC playing the Rapids. SPR have one more game to close out their tournament on the 24th against FC Tucson, while Sporting KC's fourth opponent will be based on the tournament results.

Sporting KC is slated to open up their 2016 schedule with an away match at Seattle on March 6. The Swope Park Rangers' schedule will be released at a later date.
