In his first season with Sporting Kansas City, Krisztian Nemeth quickly made a name for himself. He turned a lot of heads on his way to tallying 16 goals and 7 assists across all competitions, but on October 3rd in Portland he did more than that.
He dropped jaws, he broke ankles, he put palms to the faces of the Timbers Army, and showed everyone he has the talent to play anywhere.
Just a few days after curling in one of the most important and beautiful goals of the season for Sporting KC, he was given a break to start the match in Portland. In the 73' minute Vermes brought in Nemeth to replace striker Jacob Peterson (yeah that's right) and perhaps find the winner in a scoreless match. His moment(s) of brilliance would come not long after.
In the 83' minute Nemo received a pass from Zusi on the defensive side of the center line. He took an enthusiastic touch forward and was determined to make something happen. After basically beating the entire defense of the Timbers (and possibly ending Diego Chara's life... twice) he topped it off with a stunning finish to beat the keeper at the far post.
He beat out 64 other nominees and another fantastic goal from MVP Sebastian Giovinco in the "final" to take the honor. The goals were actually very similar and it was pretty much a toss up.
However, Lego re-created the goals and Nemo's becomes the clear winner.
