Sporting Kansas City re-sign Lawrence Olum, Seth Sinovic and Jon Kempin

Sporting KC re-sign two players out of contract and bring back an old friend to bolster defensive depth.

Lawrence Olum will return to Sporting Kansas City and Jon Kempin and Seth Sinovic will re-sign with the team, according to reports.

The club officially announced the moves later in the afternoon.

Olum returns to Kansas City after being released following the 2014 season. He spent a season with Kedah FA in Malaysia after four seasons with Sporting KC. The Kenyan international will likely back up the centerback and defensive midfielder roles, an area of weakness for Sporting KC toward the end of 2015.

Jon Kempin is seen as the keeper of the future for Sporting KC. He was originally the third-string keeper in 2015 and was loaned out to San Antonio, but became the second-string keeper when Luis Marin was released. Since Tim Melia had his option picked up, Kempin will likely not be the starter in 2016.

Seth Sinovic has been an important part of Sporting KC's back line for the past few years. He missed a significant amount of time in 2015 with a concussion and the subsequent recovery.
