Sporting Kansas City has signed a new defensive midfielder, settling some of the worries about the position going into the 2015 season.

Haitian national teamer and former member of Romanian club Petrolul Soni Mustivar will join Sporting KC after being out of contract since the fall Romanian season.

Mustivar started his career with SC Bastia in League 2 in France before going on loan to US Orleans, also a French team. He moved to Petrolul and played there for three seasons before moving to Sporting Kansas City. He has also represented Haiti at the national level, making six appearances since 2013.

Peter Vermes does not believe it will take long for Mustivar to adjust to Sporting Kansas City's midfield.

"We are always looking to add quality players to our team and we feel as if we have done that with the addition of Soni," Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes said in a press release. "I believe that once he gets acclimated to the way we play, there are some special qualities in his game that will become very apparent. I don't think it will take too long for him to adjust to our team because he just played the entire fall season with his previous club. All in all, I think he will be a good addition for us and I think it will be demonstrated over time."

He will join Sporting KC for their preseason and should be ready for the start of the 2015 season.
