MLS suspends Sporting KC fitness coach for being nice

MLS handed down a pair of punishments and Sporting KC's fitness coach had better learn to not be nice

The MLS Disciplinary Committee handed out a pair of punishments Tuesday resulting from incidents in the Sporting KC match at Dallas.

The first one was a fine to FC Dallas player Kyle Bekker for violating the hands to face/head/neck policy when he shoved Kevin Ellis down. The referee showed a yellow to both players which seemed pretty fair at the time since Ellis had instigated the incident by holding onto Bekker's leg prior to the shove.

The second punishment is a little more interesting. Seemingly unfair even. Sporting Kansas City head fitness coach Mateus Manoel was fined and suspended for Saturday's match against the Portland Timbers.

His infraction?

He stepped on the field to play the ball back to the Dallas keeper. Mateus is a nice guy and he was helping the other team but zero tolerance is zero tolerance. No entering the field of play for coaches.
