Sporting Kansas City will open their 2015 US Open Cup run in a big way, hosting first year expansion team St. Louis FC in the fourth round of the tournament.
This will be the first time Sporting Kansas City (or any incarnation of the franchise) have played a team from St. Louis in the US Open Cup and this is obviously the first time that St. Louis FC is competing in the tournament.
St. Louis FC, a 2015 USL expansion side, has impressed so far in the US Open Cup. They defeated the Des Moines Menace in the second round before defeating NASL side Minnesota United FC in penalties on Wednesday.
The match between Sporting Kansas City and St. Louis FC will be June 16 at Sporting Park. Sporting KC won their fourth round match in 2014, defeating Minnesota United FC, before bowing out to the Portland Timbers in the next round.

Sporting Kansas City affiliate OKC Energy FC is also moving on to the fourth round of the US Open Cup after their 1-0 win over Tulsa. Jimmy Nielsen's side moves on to play FC Dallas in the fourth round.
