The boys got the 1-0 win last night vs Saint Louis FC and advanced to the fifth round of 16 remaining teams. You'd like to see a more emphatic victory with such a solid lineup from SKC, but after some big chances and bad calls they were patient and eventually found the winner. To the GIFs!
The beginning of the game saw some shaky moments. Many of the visitors were playing the perhaps biggest game of their lives and they came out playing like it. Melia does well to come WAY out to clean up a mess in the 12th minute.
But a few minutes later Espinoza won a free kick and Zusi found the head of Dwyer in the box. Unfortunate for Dom there as he may or may not have put a dent in the crossbar.
The final moments of the first half almost brought the first goal for the home side. Espinoza played a ball across the box for Dia who chipped in a perfect ball finding the head of Graham Zusi. But the ball was cleared off the line and the ref quickly blew his whistle.
In the 53rd minute, Zusi beats two players in the box and gets hacked for his efforts. That is one of the most stonewall penalties as there ever has been one, but the ref signals for Zusi to get up.
Anyway.... Zusi would get his redemption in the 70th minute. Although it took that long to find it, the winner just looked too easy. But Benny and Zusi generally make everything look easy.
Chance Myers returned in all of his glory! He looked good and played for 55 minutes in his debut.
"It's awesome to be back playing in front of my biggest family." - Chance Myers
