Sporting Kansas City would travel to either Chicago or Philadelphia should they get past Real Salt Lake in the US Open Cup semifinals.
US Soccer held the coin flip draw Wednesday morning and it was determined that Sporting Kansas City would have no chance to host the final, as they did when they won in 2012.
Chicago would host no matter what should they get past Philadelphia next Tuesday. Real Salt Lake and Philadelphia each have a chance to host depending on the circumstances. Below are the scenarios for each team to host.
Chicago Fire - Hosts with win over Philadelphia on Aug. 12
Real Salt Lake - Hosts with win over Sporting KC on Aug. 12 AND Philadelphia win
Philadelphia Union - Hosts with win over Chicago on Aug. 12 AND Sporting KC win
Sporting Kansas City - Will not host 2015 U.S. Open Cup Final
Chicago and Philadelphia will play their US Open Cup semifinal match at 6:30 p.m. central time, one hour before the start of Sporting Kansas City's semifinal match with Real Salt Lake, so Sporting KC fans will know the potential finals opponent around halftime.
Sporting KC has won the US Open Cup twice in their history, once in 2004 and then again in 2012.
